Highway 9 Will Reopen In Time For Brookdale Bluegrass Festival March 24-26 At The Brookdale Lodge

Highway 9 in the San Lorenzo Valley is closed due to storm damage in southern Ben Lomond. However, the road will reopen soon and will not affect the Brookdale Bluegrass Festival, set for March 24-26, 2023 at the historic Brookdale Lodge on Highway 9 in Brookdale, just north of Ben Lomond.

The FREE event has been presented by Brookdale Bluegrass and welcomed by the NCBS since 1998.

KKUP Bluegrass Marathon Goes Live February 16-20 On Air & Online

The annual KKUP Radio Bluegrass Marathon, set for all day Friday, February 17 to Sunday, February 19. There will be a warm-up program from 7:00-9:00pm on Thursday, February 16 and a wrap-up show from 6:00-9:00pm on Monday, February 20.

During the marathon, all music played 24 hours each day will be bluegrass and closely-related musical genres. Many bands will play live in the studio during the marathon.

NCBS Walker Creek Music Camp Scholarship Fund Preparing For April Camp Awards

The Northern California Bluegrass Society is now collecting donations for the NCBS Walker Creek Music Camp Scholarship FundNCBS/SCBS is an Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) OrganizationThe NCBS Walker Creek Scholarship Fund Committee awards scholarships twice each year to assist deserving students. The next round of scholarships will benefit attendees at the April 13-16, 2023 spring session.

Frank Solivan Sr Returns To His Home, Still Recovering From Flood Accident

We are pleased to report that Frank Solivan, Sr. has returned to his home near Tracy while still recovering from a January 16 ranch driving accident during a flood. He has been resting at the home of a friend since being released from the hospital. He will now continue his recovery back at the ranch.

A (literal) “celebration of his life” will be held at the CBA Father’s Day Bluegrass Festival at Grass Valley in June. More details will be announced soon.
