The Brookdale Bluegrass Band will host theĀ Winter Brookdale Bluegrass Festival, which is presented by Brookdale BluegrassĀ and welcomed by the Northern California Bluegrass Society.
The winter event is set forĀ Thursday, December 6, 2018 atĀ Michaelās On MainĀ inĀ Soquel. (The spring gathering will be held April 19-21, 2019 in Tres Pinos.)
Freebo & Alice Howe & The Wildcat Mountain RamblersĀ are also in the December musical line-up.
The Devil’s Canyon Brewing Company will present the 14th Annual Holiday Hootenanny on Friday, December 14 in San Carlos. Here is the line-up, as announced by organizer Scott Dailey:
Main Stage:Ā Ā Pathetic Honey,Ā Wildcat Mountain Ramblers,Ā Nate Jones & The Sloe Sippers, & The Stoney Mountain Ramblers.
Side Stage:Ā John Henry’s Farm.

This FREE event is welcomed each year by the Northern California Bluegrass Society. The program will begin at 4:00pm at the brewery, 935 Washington Street, San Carlos.
Devastating wildfires have destroyed the lives of many people in Northern California. Among those who have lost everything are bluegrass musicians.
The Northern California Bluegrass Society Board of Directors has voted to support an outstanding project organized by our sister association — the California Bluegrass Association.

The Brookdale Bluegrass Festivals will be held on December 6, 2018 in Soquel and on April 19-20, 2019 in Tres Pinos.
The events have been presented by Brookdale Bluegrass and welcomed by the Northern California Bluegrass Society since 1998.
The headliner for the Winter festival is Freebo (Bonnie Raitt’s bass player) and the headliner for the Spring festival is Mr. RĀ (Bill Monroe’s guitar player).

The western town area of theĀ Paramount Ranch in Augora Hills, longtime home of the Topanga Banjo Fiddle Contest & Folk Festival, has been destroyed by the Woolsey Fire.
The bluegrass, old-time and folk festival has been held at various locations in Southern California since 1961, and for the past two decades at the ranch. Topanga is widely regarded as the most influential bluegrass gathering in the Southland. The next event was scheduled for May, 2019.
The ranch has a rich movie and TV set history, hosting the TV program M*A*S*H, Dr. Quinn — Medicine Woman, and most recently,Ā Westworld, among many others.
