Our Own Bluegrass Rite Of Spring: Come Ā to the FREE Santa Cruz Bluegrass Fair – the beloved annual spring gathering for bluegrass folks presented byĀ yourĀ Northern California Bluegrass Society/Santa Cruz Bluegrass Society!

Place: Duck Pond Stage, San Lorenzo Park, 134 Dakota Avenue, next to the courthouse in Santa Cruz.

Directions: From Highway 17, continue on Ocean Street into Santa Cruz, past Water Street, then right into the Santa Cruz County Courthouse parking lot, to left of building, park and walk to Duck Pond Stage behind the Lawn Bowling Courts. Alternate Parking on the streets surrounding the park or in downtown Santa Cruz (and cross the pedestrian bridge into the park).

The Summit House Thursday Bluegrass Series will present The Wildcat Mountain Ramblers on May 9Ā from 6:00-8:30pm. Good food and drink will be served during the FREE show.

TheĀ Summit House Beer Garden & GrillĀ at the top ofĀ Highway 17, in the Santa Cruz Mountains only 6 miles south of Los Gatos,Ā presents the weekly shows, which are welcomed by the Northern California Bluegrass Society.

The 33rd Annual Santa Cruz Bluegrass Fair, presented by the Santa Cruz Bluegrass Society (NCBS/SCBS), is set for Sunday Afternoon, May 5 at the Duck Pond Stage in San Lorenzo Park, near the courthouse in Santa Cruz.

This a FREE event and a Rite Of Spring for the area bluegrass community. Here is the schedule:

The Annual Election for theĀ Northern California Bluegrass Society Board Of Directors will be held at theĀ Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival at theĀ San Benito County Historical Park in Tres Pinos onĀ Saturday, August 10, 2019, 10:00am-5:00pm, and by mail.

Candidate Statements are due to Michael Hall byĀ June 30, 2019, for publication in the JulyĀ issue of Bluegrass By The Bay and on the NCBS Website. Statements are limited to 100 words.

Blue Summit Is Named An Official Showcase Act For 2019 IBMA World Of Bluegrass Convention In Raleigh NC

Blue Summit has been named an Official Showcase Act for the September 24-28 International Bluegrass Music Association World Of Bluegrass Convention in Raleigh, NC. Convention registration is open now.

This is a high honor for the young, emerging bluegrass band and will bring the band to the attention of the national and international bluegrass audience.

The popular Santa Cruz-based outfit is the reigning Best Bluegrass Band at the Northern California Bluegrass Awards.

The Northern California Bluegrass Society is a longtime organizational member of the IBMA.

Brookdale Bluegrass Band To Headline Pick & Gather Festival At Riverdance Farms Near Merced

The Brookdale Bluegrass Band will headline theĀ 2019 Pick & Gather Festival presented by Riverdance Farms, in Livingston, near Merced. The gathering will take place June 1-2. (Note that the new festival dates will be on the weekend after Memorial DayĀ this year.)

The event will feature bluegrass and other music, camping, information about farm-to-table food, water quality, organic farming, swimming in the Merced River and other charming bucolic pursuits.

The Northern California Bluegrass Society welcomes this event to our area.
