The 25th Annual NCBS Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival will present Jubilee (Alameda), at the San Benito County Historical Park in Tres Pinos.

The August 9-12, 2018 event is a benefit for the Northern California Bluegrass Society.

Jubilee’s Teo Quale just won the National Fiddle Championship in his age group at the contest in Weiser, ID.

Five Week Reminder: The deadline is Sunday, July 22, 2018 to purchase Discount Advance Tickets to the 25th Annual Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival.

The fun gathering will benefit the year-round work of the Northern California Bluegrass Society in promoting bluegrass in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Monterey Bay Area, and all of Northern California. The event will be held August 9-12 at the San Benito County Historical Park in Tres Pinos (7 miles south of Hollister).

The August 9-12, 2018 Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival will present longtime folk favorite Rogue River (Santa Cruz), at the San Benito County Historical Park in Tres Pinos. The 25th annual event is a benefit for the Northern California Bluegrass Society.

SSU Green Music Center To Present Laurie Lewis & The Right Hands To 4th Annual Festival July 15

Laurie Lewis & The Right Hands will take the stage at the 4th annual Bluegrass & Craft Beer Festival at the Green Music Center, Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park on Sunday afternoon, July 15.

The indoor/outdoor bluegrass music program will take place on campus at the beautiful Weill Hall & Lawn.

The Northern California Bluegrass Society welcomes this event to our area.

Also performing: Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder and Phoebe Hunt & The Gatherers.

The Annual Election for the Northern California Bluegrass Society Board Of Directors will be held at the Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival at the San Benito County Historical Park (next to Bolado Park) in Tres Pinos on Saturday, August 11, 2018, 10:00am-5:00pm, and by mail.

Candidate Statements are due to Michael Hall by June 30, 2018, for publication in the July issue of Bluegrass By The Bay and on the NCBS Website. Statements are limited to 100 words.

NCBS To Present The Brookdale Bluegrass Band In Tres Pinos For The 25th Annual GOF Festival

The Northern California Bluegrass Society will present longtime festival favorite The Brookdale Bluegrass Band (Bonny Doon), at the historic 25th Annual Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival, set for the San Benito County Historical Park, Tres Pinos (7 miles south of Hollister). The friendly, fun August 9-12 event is a benefit for the Society’s many projects supporting local bluegrass music.

Bluegrass Pub In The Park Comes To Redwood City With The Jones Gang This Saturday June 16

A brand new bluegrass music series comes to Redwood City this summer beginning this Saturday, June 16, 2018 with The Jones Gang. The first concert will be held at Mezes Park and will run 11:00am-4:00pm.

The Pub In The Park shows are FREE, held in various neighborhood parks, and are centered around the bluegrass band and an inflatable pub that serves good beer throughout the afternoon. This is a great event for a picnic with your family and friends. NCBS welcomes the new monthly bluegrass performances, which are presented by the Redwood City Department Of Parks Recreation & Community Services.

Redwood City Civic Cultural Commission Awards Key Grant To Support The 12th Annual Bluegrass On Broadway Festival

The Civic Cultural Commission of the City Of Redwood City has awarded a grant that provides key funding for the Northern California Bluegrass Society’s Bluegrass On Broadway Festival.

The 12th Annual event will be held at various Redwood City venues on the weekend of January 25-27, 2019.

The FREE community gathering includes the Northern California Bluegrass Awards on January 26 and the NCBS Bluegrass Film Festival on January 27. Other live music is presented in the restaurants, bars, and other venues around the city, creating an enjoyable bluegrass weekend for both locals and visitors.

The grant is subject to final approval by the Redwood City Council later this month.

Redwood City, located in the middle of the SF Bay Area, is the Peninsula Home Of Bluegrass Music, with frequent shows in the city’s music clubs and the inclusion of bluegrass music in civic celebrations and public concerts. New this year is the city’s Bluegrass Pub In The Park series, which will be staged monthly throughout the summer in various neighborhood parks by the Redwood City Department Of Parks Recreation & Community Services.
