Four Week Reminder: The deadline for the initial round of applications for the IBMA Foundation Arnold Shultz Fund that supports bluegrass participation by people of color is January 31, 2021.

Northern California Bluegrass Society members and their friends are encouraged to apply for this important new grant opportunity.

Grants can be used to support a wide range of support and outreach initiatives. The NCBS is a longtime organizational member of the International Bluegrass Music Association, which is affiliated with the Foundation. The NCBS Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival’s popular Facebook Group Page is the place to find great local music by your favorite bluegrass area bands.

The August 2020 GOF Festival had to be cancelled, but all is not lost — Local Bluegrass Musicians now post their music on the Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival Facebook Group Page.

Musicians Offering Online Lessons Are Listed In NCBS Online Directory

Northern California Bluegrass Musicians are listed in the NCBS Directory to give Online Lessons. This is a way for students/fans to support area musicians during the Coronavirus Pandemic.

The directory is a FREE service of the Northern California Bluegrass Society. Interested students can check the directory and arrange ONLINE LESSONS with their favorite musicians (the price is between teacher and student).

The convenient Directory is listed under Resources in the index on the left side of this website. Musicians can sign up to offer lessons at <webmaster@ncbs.us>.

One-Day Reminder: Now is the time to donate up to $300 to the Northern California Bluegrass Society/Santa Cruz Bluegrass Society. The CARES Act added a new, one-year-only $300 Charitable Contribution Deduction. The Deadline is December 31, 2020.

You can write off up to $300 in cash donations on your tax return when you file your 2020 tax return next spring, even if you do not itemize. As of January 1, 2021, you will be required to itemize deductions to write off charitable giving when you file your taxes.

2020 Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival Online Is Archived For Viewing

The 27th Annual Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival Online took place on August 8, 2020. The line-up included AJ Lee & Blue Summit, Goat Hill Girls, Brookdale Bluegrass Band and Mike Fisher & Joanne Tanner.

The Northern California Bluegrass Society presented the virtual show that replaced the in-person festival normally held at the San Benito County Historical Park in Tres Pinos.  We missed seeing everyone in person! Meanwhile, here is the link for viewing the archived program online:
