The 27th Annual Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival Online was presented by the Northern California Bluegrass Society on August 8, 2020. The line-up: Brookdale Bluegrass Band, The Goat Hill Girls, AJ Lee & Blue Summit, & Mike Fisher & Joanne Tanner.
The virtual show replaced the in-person festival normally held at the San Benito County Historical Park in Tres Pinos. You can view the archived program online.
The Goat Hill Girls return to the NCBS-Welcomed Bluegrass Series at the Summit House at the top of Highway 17 in the Santa Cruz Mountains this SATURDAY AFTERNOON. The FREE show presented by the Summit House Beer Garden & Grill will run 2:00-4:00pm on March 6.
With Coronavirus Restrictions now loosened by the state, the series is planned for every Saturday afternoon. This show with limited seating is at 23123 Santa Cruz Highway, 6 miles south of Los Gatos on Highway 17. The Summit House will offer food and drinks. Be sure to dress warmly for this afternoon outdoor event.
Reservations are recommended and Strict Coronavirus Rules will be enforced. This local venue is currently open and presenting our music Every Saturday (and is in need of our support). If you now feel comfortable leaving your home, consider checking out The Summit House.
In honor of February — Black History Month, you can support the IBMA Foundation Arnold Shultz Fund that supports bluegrass participation by people of color. The NCBS is a longtime organizational member of the International Bluegrass Music Association, which is affiliated with the Foundation.
The Pisgah Banjo Company of Asheville, North Carolina is holding a special banjo raffle this month to benefit the Arnold Shultz Fund.
Raffle ticket sales will END ON Sunday, February 28.

A Place In The Band, Women In Bluegrass And American Roots Music — a FREE virtual conference (advance registration required to obtain Zoom link) will feature several California-related (and beyond) women artists and other professionals. The event is presented by the Blue Ridge Music Center and will run 9:00am-1:00pm Pacific Time on Friday, February 26, 2021.
The program includes two former members of the Northern California Bluegrass Society — the Keynote Speaker Alison Brown (now of Nashville) and Panelist Annie Staninec (now of Portland, OR).
Northern California Bluegrass Musicians who have signed up to be listed in the NCBS Directory are available to give Online Lessons during the panedemic. Interested students can check the directory and arrange lessons with their favorite musicians (the price is between teacher and student).

The Strawberry Music Festival will not be held on Memorial Day Weekend this May. Due to the Coronavirus Crisis, it has been postponed until 2022. This festival was originally postposted from May 2020. Tickets will be honored in 2022 and beyond. Other area 2021 festivals have also announced cancellations and postponements. Updates will be available on this website.
