Sam’s BBQ Adds Purple Mountain Majesty On Wednesday March 23

The Northern California Bluegrass Society welcomes the return of bluegrass music to Sam’s BBQ in following the pandemic. The San Jose venue has supported bluegrass and related music for decades but has not been able to stage live music for the past two years.

A month-long experiment is being held on Wednesdays in March, including two bluegrass bands. If this experiment succeeds, regular music will continue.

An additional show has been added this Wednesday, March 23 with Purple Mountain Majesty.

The last show is unchanged: Wednesday, March 30 — Jerry Logan & Loganville.

NCBS Welcomes The Return Of The Johnson Farm Pickin’ Party On April 23

The Northern California Bluegrass Society welcomes the return of the beloved Johnson Farm Pickin’ Party to the Santa Cruz Mountains on Saturday, April 23, 2022. The FREE event is hosted by Mike Johnson.

The 10-year-old event was paused during the pandemic, but is back! The relaxed day of informal music, food, and friends will be held at a new farm near Boulder Creek, not far from the original location.

The Northern California Bluegrass Society will present the return of the Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival on Thursday-Sunday, August 11-14, 2022, at the San Benito County Historical Park in Tres Pinos. Everyone at this event will be vaccinated.

You Can Volunteer At The NCBS 2022 Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE GOOD OLD FASHIONED FESTIVAL

San Benito County Historical Park, 8300 Airline Hwy., Tres Pinos, CA
Volunteers are needed Wednesday, August 10, through Monday, August 15, 2022.
Volunteers are needed in all areas! Volunteers will receive one day free admission and one night camping at the festival for each 4-hour shift worked. Some positions that are more strenuous may have longer hours, fewer days. All volunteers are to check in at the Volunteer Booth to receive their Volunteer Lanyard. Volunteers will be allowed in on Wednesday for early camping.
Volunteer booth will be open from 8-12 on Thursday through Sunday; other times will be available throughout the festival. Early arriving volunteers are required to check in at the booth on Thursday.

___ Pickup supplies and ice, Thursday – Sunday.
___ Recycling crew – whole festival 4 hours a day, including Monday.

Plan Now To Be Vaccinated In Time For 2022 Live Bluegrass Events

Plan now to avoid missing any of your favorite live gatherings in 2022.  Covid Vaccines will be required for almost all events by almost all presenters in Northern California. This includes events presented by NCBS, such as the Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival. This season, vaccines will finally make it possible to hold events with a minimum of risk…a huge improvement over the past two years.

The vaccines are FREE and WIDELY AVAILABLE. However, it will take several months to get all of the shots. Now is the time to act!

The initial Wednesday, March 2 show with The Wildcat Mountain Ramblers was a big success with a full house, great music, and fine BBQ. Bluegrass fans have one more shot this month to show they care about the future of bluegrass music at Sam’s:
