One Week Reminder: The fun, FREE NCBS Gathering Membership & Volunteer Party at Loch Lomond Park, Felton has been set for Saturday, July 8, 2023.
The FREE gathering in the mountains will feature bands, jamming, picnicking, friends, nature, & fun! The event is open to NCBS Members and Volunteers (and to those interested in becoming either one). This is an outdoor event and a chance to meet new folks while enjoying great music.
Location: City of Santa Cruz Loch Lomond Recreation Area, 100 Loch Lomond Way, Felton, CA 95018. Park gates open at 7:00am and close at 7:30pm. Parking is limited, so carpooling is highly recommended (Parking fee is $8.00 per car.) Follow the signs to our reserved area in the lower lot by the lake.
All Day: Mountain trails offer great hiking. Boating & Fishing in Loch Lomond Lake, and boat rentals are available. The lake has bass, trout & catfish. Daily fishing licenses are available if you need one.
Beginning At Noon: NCBS will supply burgers, hot dogs, sodas, and water. You are also welcome to bring your own picnic and alcohol of your choosing. Enjoy!
Afternoon: Bands will play on a small stage. Performances by Sunny Side Of The Mountain, eric burman & the brookdale bluegrass band, The Gilroy Drifters, Acidgrass, and Lucas Lawson & The Unturned Stone, plus jamming all day!
NCBS To Present The Goat Hill Girls At The August 10-13 Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival
The main stage at the Northern California Bluegrass Society’s 29th Annual Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival August 10-13, 2023 will feature the popular South Bay band The Goat Hill Girls.
The GOF is an annual fun, relaxed, friendly gathering of bluegrass musicians and friends set for the San Benito County Historical Park in Tres Pinos.

NCBS Welcomes Nickel Creek To Sonoma State University Concert On July 9
The Northern California Bluegrass Society welcomes the bluegrass and beyond band Nickel Creek for a Sunday July 9, 2023 concert at Weill Hall & Lawn at Sonoma State University.
Singer/Songwriter Monica Martin will open. The program is presented by SSU’s Green Music Center as part of its summer on campus concert series in Rohnert Park. The venue offers both indoor and outdoor seating in a beautiful setting.
SSU is the most important live bluegrass music presenter in the Sonoma area. Thanks for your support!
Nickel Creek, originally from San Diego, rocketed to stardom as a youth band. Its members then went on to individual musical achievement. Two of the three members — Chris Thile and Sara Watkins — are the only persons to host the national public radio program “A Prairie Home Companion” other than Garrison Keillor. The band, including Sean Watkins, is now back together for limited touring dates. The band last toured in 2014.

The 2023 Election for the Northern California Bluegrass Society Board Of Directors will be held at the Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival at the San Benito County Historical Park in Tres Pinos on Saturday, August 12, 2023, 10:00am-5:00pm, and by mail.
The nine elected board members will serve a one-year term, August 2023 to August 2024.
Candidate Statements are due to Michael Hall by July 10, 2023, for publication on the NCBS Website. Statements are limited to 100 words.
