NCBS Announces New, Upgraded Facilities For August 11-14, 2016 Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival

The Northern California Bluegrass Society has announced new, upgraded facilities at the new home of the 23rd Annual Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival — the San Benito County Historical Park.

The event will be held August 11-14, 2016 next door to Bolado Park, just south of tiny Tres Pinos, and 7 miles south of Hollister on Highway 25. This is a great place for a bluegrass festival.

The benefit for the NCBS was held at Bolado Park 1994-2015, a run of 22 wonderful years. Bolado Park has now moved in a new direction, while the GOF Festival has moved up to a nicer place.

The San Benito County Historical Park offers more attractive performance and camping space than the old venue, with additional shade trees, grass, and other amenities. A brand new stage and electrical system will greet bluegrass fans.

gof_2016_poster_very_finalThe San Benito county park is managed by the San Benito County Historical Society, our hosts for the festival. The park features a lovely historical village with original historic buildings including a jail, schoolhouse, pharmacy, dance hall, saloon, house, town plaza, barns, and more. In addition, the park has a children’s play area, restrooms and showers, and is a bluegrass-friendly venue.

The new place will allow the Good Old Fashioned Festival to accommodate dog lovers and their beloved four-legged family members for the first time, while allowing other festival goers to enjoy their usual bluegrass activities undisturbed.

Discount Advance Ticket sales will end on Friday, July 22, 2016. Tickets are available by mail or online on this website.

Gates will open Thursday at Noon, with that day reserved for jamming and socializing. The festival stages will run Friday-Sunday. Free camping is included with your ticket. For information about RV hook-ups, call Michael Fisher at (831) 336-2186.
