24-26 — NCBS Presents The 13th Annual Bluegrass On Broadway Festival, various venues, Redwood City. FREE.

2-5 — Berkeley Bluegrass Festival, Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse, Berkeley. (NCBS welcomed) Note new date.

17-19 — Spring Brookdale Bluegrass Festival, San Benito County Historical Park, Tres Pinos. (NCBS welcomed)

MAY

3 — NCBS Presents The 33rd Annual Santa Cruz Bluegrass Fair, Duck Pond Stage, San Lorenzo Park, Santa Cruz. FREE.

 

 

 

NCBS Walker Creek Music Camp Scholarship Fund Announces Fall Camp 2019 Awards

The Northern California Bluegrass Society Walker Creek Music Camp Scholarship Fund has awarded two scholarships for the Fall Music Camp, set for November 1-4, 2019.

A brother (age 9) and his sister (age 11) in need of financial assistance to attend the camp are the recipients of the scholarships made possible by generous donors to the fund. Both siblings play fiddle along with other instruments.

The NCBS/SCBS is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization and accepts donations for all of its various projects, one of which is the Walker Creek Camp Scholarship Fund.

Ingrid Noyes runs the Walker Creek Music Camp twice each year at the Walker Creek Ranch Environmental Education Center near Petaluma. The camp is open to adults and children.

The Northern California Bluegrass Society accepts donations which may be tax deductible. The NCBS supports bluegrass music in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Monterey Bay Area, and all of Northern California.

The Society is a California Not-For-Profit Corporation with Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) status that is also known as the Santa Cruz Bluegrass Society. The NCBS/SCBS Tax ID No. is 94-2907716. Bluegrass Calendar That Supports Our Music On The Radio Available Until October 31

Peter Thompson, the longtime host of the Saturday evening Bluegrass Signal radio show on the station, has published a beautiful and comprehensive 2020 Calendar of current and historical bluegrass dates. The calendar includes all the Northern California Bluegrass Society information as well as many other key area bluegrass dates.

The new calendar is available only to donors who support bluegrass music on KALW Radio. The calendar was available as a premium during the recent fall pledge drive for the station. However, Peter has announced that he will send the calendar to interested donors who contact him directly by October 31.  Peter Thompson <bgsignal@comcast.net>. The Bluegrass Musical Mark Twain’s River Of Song Closes On Sunday October 27 In Mountain View

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley’s presentation of the musical Mark Twain’s River Of Song will close on Sunday, October 27, 2019. The bluegrass program is at the Mountain View Center For The Performing Arts. Tickets are still available online. The DISCOUNT FOR BLUEGRASS FANS is a $10 Discount when purchasing tickets by using the code “BLUEGRASS” (only on the TheatreWorks website).

The Northern California Bluegrass Society welcomes this bluegrass cultural experience to our area.

KALW Fall Pledge Drive Is Saturday October 26 — New 2020 Bluegrass Calendar Available

This Saturday, October 26, north and central bay public radio station KALW in San Francisco (91.7FM and Online) will hold the fall bluegrass pledge drive.

The longtime host of the Saturday evening Bluegrass Signal radio show on the station, Peter Thompson, has published a beautiful and comprehensive 2020 Calendar of current and historical bluegrass dates. Rare Bluegrass Musical Theatre Run Will End On Sunday October 27 In Mountain View

The Northern California Bluegrass Society welcomes TheatreWorks Silicon Valley’s performance of the Bluegrass/Americana musical Mark Twain’s River Of Song. The stories of Mark Twain and plenty of our kind of music will make this an enjoyable evening of musical theatre for area bluegrass fans.

But, this rare offering of bluegrass musical theatre will continue only through Sunday, October 27, 2019 at the Mountain View Center For The Performing Arts.

DISCOUNT FOR BLUEGRASS FANS: NCBS (and other) bluegrass fans will receive a $10 Discount when purchasing tickets by using the code “BLUEGRASS” on the TheatreWorks website.

The show was written by Randal Myler & Dan Wheetman (the latter familiar to NCBS fans due to his Marley’s Ghost fame).

Northern California Bluegrass Awards Show Set For Saturday January 25 In Redwood City

The 2020 Northern California Bluegrass Awards Show will be held on Saturday, January 25, 3:00-5:00pm at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center Theater, 1455 Madison Avenue in Redwood City. The FREE program is part of the 13th Annual Northern California Bluegrass Society Bluegrass On Broadway Festival, set for January 24-26, 2020.
