IBMA Leadership Bluegrass Alumni Retreat Set For North Carolina April 24-26

Northern California Bluegrass Society President Michael Hall will help lead the International Bluegrass Music Association Leadership Bluegrass Alumni Retreat to be held at the Blue Ridge Assembly Conference Center in Black Mountain, NC on April 24-26, 2017. The retreat will intensively examine issues that currently face the bluegrass music world.

Interested NCBS Members are encouraged to apply for the Leadership Bluegrass Class held every March in Nashville. Class graduates are invited to the retreats, which are held in the spring of each odd-numbered year, in addition to other alumni events.

The NCBS is a longtime organizational member of the IBMA. Hall is a member of the Leadership Bluegrass Class of 2003.

NCBS Walker Creek Music Camp Scholarship Fund Awards Tuition Assistance To Bluegrass Family For Spring Camp

TheĀ NCBS Walker Creek Music Camp Scholarship Fund has awarded tuition assistance to help a musical family attend theĀ April 7-10, 2017 camp near Petaluma. The NCBS scholarship will assist a 14-year-old boy (mandolin student) to join his 13-year-old sister (fiddle student) and their father (mandolin student) at the camp.

Thanks to the generous donors and to the NCBS committee that manages this project. The fund will soon begin collecting donations to help deserving students who want to attend the Fall 2017 camp, set for the second weekend of October.

NCBS Information Booth Set To Begin 2017 Season In Northern California

TheĀ Northern California Bluegrass Society Information Booth will be at events all during theĀ 2017 Live Music Season inĀ Northern California.

The booth will have flyers and sage advice aboutĀ ALL area festivals, concerts, and workshops (including those events presented by the NCBS itself). The first festival outing for the 2017 season will be the March 10-12 Brookdale Bluegrass Spring Festival in Felton. The booth will appear at approximately 25 events this year (about every two weeks or so).

The service is FREE to both music presenters and music fans.

Wildcat Mountain Ramblers & Stoney Mountain Ramblers To Appear Live December 12 On KKUP Monday Night Bluegrass

Host bands from two Northern California Bluegrass Society-welcomed events will perform liveĀ December 12 on Monday Night Bluegrass on KKUP Radio, 91.5FM in the South Bay & Monterey Bay Areas and Online.

The Stoney Mountain Ramblers (Menlo Park) host the annual Holiday Hootenanny at the Devil’s Canyon Brewing Company in San Carlos. The band will play on air and discuss the FREE 2016 multi-band gathering, set for this Friday evening, December 16.

The Wildcat Mountain Ramblers (Los Gatos) host the year-old Thursday Bluegrass Series at the Summit House Beer Garden & Grill near Los Gatos. The band will play live on air and discuss the FREE weekly performances featuring various bluegrass bands in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

The host of Monday Night Bluegrass is Mike Russell. Michael Hall will be on hand to interview the bands. The program will run 6:00-9:00pm.
