The CARES ACT Allows Up To A $300 Above-The-Line Deduction To NCBS/SCBS For 2020 Only

This is the year to donate up to $300 to the Northern California Bluegrass Society/Santa Cruz Bluegrass Society if you want to save on taxes. The CARES Act added a new, one-year-only $300 Charitable Contribution Deduction for 2020.

This is an Above-The-Line deduction, so that even if you do not itemize, you can still write off up to $300 in cash donations on your tax return when you file next spring. Normally, you would have to itemize deductions to write off charitable giving when you file your taxes. That rule will return in 2021, so Act Before December 31, 2020.
