Two Week Reminder: January 31, 2021 is the deadline for the initial round of applications for the IBMA Foundation Arnold Shultz Fund that supports bluegrass participation by people of color. Recipients can be individuals or organizations.

Shultz Fund grants can be used to support a wide range of support and outreach initiatives. The NCBS is a longtime organizational member of the International Bluegrass Music Association, which is affiliated with the Foundation. NCBS President Michael Hall is a member of the IBMA Foundation Board of Directors.

Northern California Bluegrass Society members and their friends are encouraged to apply for this important new grant opportunity.

The directory is a FREE service of the Northern California Bluegrass Society. Interested students can check the directory and arrange ONLINE LESSONS with their favorite musicians (the price is between teacher and student). The convenient Directory is listed under Resources in the index on the left side of this website.

One-Day Reminder: Now is the time to donate up to $300 to the Northern California Bluegrass Society/Santa Cruz Bluegrass Society. The CARES Act added a new, one-year-only $300 Charitable Contribution Deduction. The Deadline is December 31, 2020.

You can write off up to $300 in cash donations on your tax return when you file your 2020 tax return next spring, even if you do not itemize. As of January 1, 2021, you will be required to itemize deductions to write off charitable giving when you file your taxes.
