Summit House Thursday Bluegrass Series Returns This Week Following Renovations

The FREE Summit House Thursday Bluegrass Series continues following renovations at the venue last week. The lovely Santa Cruz Mountains views remain the same.

The weekly series runs every Thursday evening from 6:00pm to 8:30pm at the Summit House Beer Garden & Grill at the top of Highway 17 between Los Gatos & Scott’s Valley. The series is presented by the Summit House and welcomed by the Northern California Bluegrass Society. Good food and drink are served during the performance.

On October 20, Redwood City’s Kitchen Help will perform. Ya’ll come!

Robert Cornelius books this series that launched in January of this year and has made the Summit House a gem of a bluegrass venue. Check it out this month if you haven’t been by to enjoy this free event. Enjoy the endless view while you are there!

RBA Announces That 2016-2017 Concert Season Will Be The Last After 25 Years

Redwood Bluegrass Associates has announced that the 2016-2017 concert season will be the non-profit organization’s 25th and final year. The last show will be on April 22, 2017.

The Northern California Bluegrass Society has supported the RBA series since 1995. We are sorry to see it shut down after a great run.

Come out and enjoy the final season! The first of the monthly concerts will be on October 22, 2016 at the Mountain View Masonic Hall with the Kathy Kallick Band.

Kathy Kallick Band To Kick Off 25th RBA Concert Season On October 22 In Mountain View

The Kathy Kallick Band (Oakland) will kick off the historic 25th Redwood Bluegrass Associates Concert Season on October 22.

All RBA programs since 1995 have been welcomed by the Northern California Bluegrass Society.

The Saturday evening concert will be presented at the Mountain View Masonic Hall, 890 Church Street. There is plenty of free parking on the street, in the Hall’s lot and in the nearby library parking lot. An open jam will begin at  5:00pm, concert doors will open at 7:00pm and the concert will begin at 7:30pm.

Fall Redwood Bluegrass Associates Concerts To Feature Two Nationally-Touring Bay Area Bands

The fall concerts for the historic 25th Redwood Bluegrass Associates Concert Season will be held in October and November in Mountain View. All RBA programs since 1995 have been welcomed by the Northern California Bluegrass Society.

The line-up will feature two nationally-touring Bay Area bands:

October 22 — Kathy Kallick Band

November 19 — Front Country

Volunteers and bands from all Northern California Bluegrass Society events and other projects over the past year will soon receive their invitations to the 2016 Volunteer Thank You Party.

The fun annual gathering will be held on Saturday, October 29 at an undisclosed location. Thanks for your support!

One Day Reminder: 2017 Northern California Bluegrass Awards Nominations Are Due October 8

One Day Reminder: Nominations for the 10th Annual Northern California Bluegrass Awards are due tomorrow, Saturday, October 8, 2016.

Categories: Band, Male Vocalist, Female Vocalist, Guitar, Mandolin, Banjo, Fiddle, Dobro, & Bass. The awards honor primarily non-touring Northern California bluegrass bands and musicians. Each person may nominate up to three in each category.

For your convenience, nominations may be made by E-Mail.

NCBS Members will receive two rounds of ballots, then the FREE Northern California Bluegrass Awards Show & Concert will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017, as part of the Northern California Bluegrass Society’s Bluegrass On Broadway Festival in Redwood City. The festival is supported by a base grant from the Redwood City Civic Cultural Commission, and by other Redwood City area individuals, businesses, organizations and agencies.
