Redwood City Celebrates 150 Years With FREE Bluegrass & More Downtown On Saturday May 20

NCBS welcomes bluegrass music at the Redwood City celebration!

This Saturday, May 20, 2017, Redwood City will celebrate its 150th Anniversary as a city with a FREE celebration, starting with a great bluegrass music concert featuring 27strings and The Stoney Mountain Ramblers on the Main Street Stage in downtown Redwood City.

The bluegrass begins at Noon in an area where multiple restaurants offer outdoor seating with a great view of the stage — perfect for a relaxed lunch outing with friends. Other seating is also available if you don’t wish to eat during the 2-hour show.

Other music will follow on the Main Street and Courthouse Square stages throughout the afternoon and evening.

The Northern California Bluegrass Society helped bring bluegrass music to the historical party and the friendly NCBS Information Booth will be there to welcome everyone during the bluegrass show.

Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival Tickets are now available for purchase online or by mail. The fun, friendly 24th annual festival will be held at the San Benito County Historical Park in Tres Pinos (7 miles south of Hollister) August 10-13, 2017.

24th Annual Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival Set For August 10-13 In Tres Pinos

The 24th Annual Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival will be held August 10-13, 2017 at the San Benito County Historical Park in Tres Pinos, 7 miles south of Hollister.

The small, friendly festival is a showcase of top California bluegrass talent and is a benefit for the Northern California Bluegrass Society.

The bands on the main stage include 35 Years Of Trouble, AJ Lee & Blue Summit,Black Eyed Susies, Bodie 601 Band, Brookdale Bluegrass Band, Circle R Boys, Courthouse Ramblers, Cryin’ Shame, Crying Uncle, Dark Hollow, Faux Renwah, Goat Hill Girls, High Country, Hot October, Kids on Stage, Nate Jones & The Sloe Sippers, Old Belle, Pathetic Honey String Band, Rogue River, Sidesaddle & Co, Snap Jackson & The Knock On Wood Players, Stoney Mountain Ramblers, The Jones Gang, The Mountain & The Moon, and Wendy Burch Steel & Redwood.

Additional bands will appear on two other stages. All of these bands will be enjoying the evening jams along with their many friends at the GOF gathering.

The festival’s new historical park home is right next to Bolado Park in the same beautiful valley and has more shade, more grass, a historical village (a great place to pick), and improved facilities. Additional improvements have been made since last year’s first outing at the historic park.

The event also features shade over the audience, food, hot showers, the NCBS elections, a raffle, nice camping, children’s activities, and friendly folks.

Discount advance tickets are now on sale either by mail or online on this website. Purchase by July 22 to save money. NCBS Members receive an extra discount on advance tickets as well.

The place has a bluegrass-friendly management — the San Benito County Historical Society.

Hidden Still Set For Thursday May 18 At The Summit House On Highway 17

The Santa Cruz Mountains’ own Hidden Still will play on Thursday, May 18, as part of the Northern California Bluegrass Society-welcomed FREE Thursday Bluegrass Series presented by the Summit House Beer Garden & Grill.

Fine food and drink will be served as the music runs 6:00-8:30pm. The Summit House is located at 23123 Santa Cruz Highway, Los Gatos (six miles south of Los Gatos).

Great views abound in every direction at the top of Highway 17.
