There are some openings left in the class for the April 13-16, 2023 Walker Creek Music Camp. Registration is now open. Ingrid Noyes runs the campĀ each spring and fall at theĀ Walker Creek Ranch, Petaluma.Ā 

TheĀ Northern California Bluegrass SocietyĀ is now collecting donations for theĀ NCBS Walker Creek Music Camp Scholarship Fund.Ā NCBS/SCBSĀ is anĀ Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) Organization.Ā The NCBS Walker Creek Scholarship Fund CommitteeĀ awards scholarships twice each year to assist deserving students.Ā The next round of scholarships will benefit attendees at theĀ 2023Ā spring session.

Friday March 10 Is Last Day To Support Pisgah Banjo Raffle For Arnold Shultz Fund

The deadline to purchase raffle tickets for a custom-made banjo from theĀ Pisgah Banjo Company is Friday, MarchĀ 10. Here is the Raffle Tickets & Information.

Pisgah BanjosĀ is excited to offer a chance to win a unique custom banjo! Raffle tickets are $20 each. All proceeds will benefit theĀ Arnold Shultz Fund, a scholarship fund dedicated to people of color pursuing traditional, old-time, and bluegrass music.Ā The first $10,000 raised in the raffle will be gifted to theĀ Black Banjo Reclamation ProjectĀ of Oakland from the Arnold Shultz FundĀ to support a gourd banjo building workshop in the black banjo community.

The prize isĀ a custom-builtĀ Pisgah BanjoĀ made from blonde Curly Maple, featuring a Dobson tone ring, 12″ pot, slotted headstock, and brass plated s-scoop with an engraved image ofĀ Arnold Shultz. Pisgah Banjos chose to benefit the Arnold Shultz fund as a way to help re-appropriate the history of the banjo.

The Arnold Shultz Fund is a project of theĀ IBMA Foundation, which is affiliated with theĀ International Bluegrass Music Association.Ā NCBSĀ is a longtime organizational member of the IBMA and NCBS past presidentĀ Michael HallĀ is a member of the Foundation’s board of directors.

IBMA Announces AJ Lee & Blue Summit As A Top Act At World Of Bluegrass Convention

NCBS’ own AJ Lee & Blue Summit has been named one of the top acts to perform at Bluegrass Live! — the huge concert that concludes the International Bluegrass Music Association’s World Of Bluegrass Convention, set for September 26-30, 2023 at the Raleigh Convention Center in Raleigh, NC.

Bandleader AJ Lee of Santa Cruz is a member of the Northern California Bluegrass Society Board Of Directors. NCBS is a longtime organizational member of the IBMA.

Brookdale Bluegrass Festival Performance Schedule Announced For March 24-26

The performance schedule for the NCBS-welcomed Brookdale Bluegrass & American Roots Festival has been announced by the presenters Brookdale Bluegrass & The Brookdale Lodge. The festival will be held March 24-26 at the Brookdale Lodge on Highway 9 in Brookdale.

Late additions: Sunny Side Of The Mountain will close the afternoon show on Saturday and Acidgrass will close the festival on Sunday.
