Plymouth To Host New Bluegrass Festival October 9-13

The Northern California Bluegrass Society welcomes the First Annual Frankly Bluegrass Music Festival which will honor the late Frank Solivan, Sr., founder of Kids On Bluegrass & Kids On Stage. The event is presented by members of the Solivan family.

The Amador County Fairgrounds in Plymouth, site of several bluegrass festivals over the past 40 years, but none in the past decade, will host the new festival the Second Weekend of October (9-13).

The NCBS Information Booth will be there. Stop by and say hello!

The line-up: Frank Solivan & Chris Luquette, Kids On Bluegrass, Broken Compass Bluegrass, Special Consensus, Wayne Taylor & Appaloosa, Crying Uncle, Central Valley Boys, David Adkins & Mountain Soul, Kentucky Sky, and The Honey Buckets.

IBMA Trust Fund To Stream Hurricane Benefit Concert On Thursday October 3

A Streamed Concert to benefit the IBMA Trust Fund that will assist bluegrass musicians affected by Hurricane Helene will be held on Thursday, October 3 at 5:00pm Pacific Time. The IBMA Trust Fund is affiliated with the International Bluegrass Music Association. The Northern California Bluegrass Society is a longtime organizational member of the IBMA.

The concert will be live on the IBMA Facebook Page.

NCBS Welcomes October 19 Santa Cruz Concert With Sonia Shell & Johnny Campbell Bands

The Northern California Bluegrass Society welcomes a concert in Santa Cruz featuring the Sonia Shell Band and the Johnny Campbell Band. The show will take place on Saturday, October 19 at the Live Oak Grange. The program schedule:
4:00pm — Potluck Meal & Jamming (Bring a potluck dish to share)
5:50 — Keith Holland Jammers (Los Gatos)
6:00 — Johnny Campbell Band (Nashville)
7:15 — Sonia Shell Band (Santa Cruz — Album Release Performance)

OTHER SHOWS:

The bands will also appear on KKUP Monday Night Bluegrass on Monday October 14, 6:00-9:00pm, 91.5FM in the South Bay & Monterey Bay Areas and online at <www.kkupfm.org> (Note new station website).

The bands will also perform at Sam’s BBQ in San Jose on Wednesday October 16, 6:00-9:00pm.

Congratulations To Molly Tuttle & Laurie Lewis, 2024 IBMA Honorees

The Northern California Bluegrass Society congratulates Molly Tuttle, a former NCBS member and Palo Alto native, on winning the Album Of The Year award for “City Of Gold” at the International Bluegrass Music Awards Show in Raleigh NC.

Congratulations also go to Berkeley bluegrass icon Laurie Lewis on her Distinguished Achievement Award that was presented on Thursday as well.
