NCBS To Welcome Online Concert To Benefit New IBMA Foundation Bluegrass Racial Equity Initiative

The Northern California Bluegrass Society welcomes the Denver Bluegrass Allstars Benefit Concert for the Arnold Shultz Fund at the IBMA Foundation. (NCBS President Michael Hall serves on the Foundation’s Board of Directors.)

The fund will support outreach initiatives (scholarships, workshops, recruitment, etc.) to support participation by people of color in bluegrass music. Arnold Shultz was a member of Uncle Pen’s Band in Rosine, KY and played as a duo with Bill Monroe for Bill’s first paid gig. Monroe often cited Shultz as an influence on his music and on the development of bluegrass.

The FREE concert will be held on Friday, June 26 at 6:00pm Pacific Time. The Denver Bluegrass Allstars are: Andy Hall and Chris Pandolfi (the Infamous Stringdusters), Paul Hoffman (Greensky Bluegrass), Greg Garrison (Leftover Salmon), and flatpicking champion Tyler Grant. This will be the new band’s first performance. Donations will be accepted. A portion of the proceeds from the concert will benefit the fund.

In addition to donations made during the concert, donations to The Arnold Shultz Fund may also be made at any time on the IBMA Foundation website home page.
